The SpineCareBLR team conducted an interactive spine health and back pain awareness session at Christ University, Bannerghatta Road, Bengaluru, on 22 August 2026. The session, titled “Preventing Back Pain Through Better Ergonomics,” focused on educating students about back pain, neck pain, posture-related problems and practical ways to maintain a healthy spine.

The session was led by Dr. Sushruth J, Orthopaedic and Spine Specialist, addressed the increasing occurrence of back pain and neck pain among young adults and students. Prolonged sitting, excessive screen time, poor sitting posture, improper study positions, lack of physical activity and inadequate ergonomics were discussed as important contributors to musculoskeletal problems.
A key focus of the programme was ergonomics for students and young adults. The SpineCareBLR team explained how to maintain correct sitting posture, optimise desk and chair height, position laptops and screens appropriately, take regular movement breaks and avoid prolonged static postures. Students were also encouraged to incorporate regular exercise, stretching, core strengthening and healthy lifestyle habits into their daily routine.

The session also covered common spinal conditions and symptoms such as low back pain, neck pain, radiating leg pain and sciatica, with emphasis on recognising warning symptoms and seeking timely medical evaluation when necessary.

Through this spine awareness and preventive healthcare initiative, the SpineCareBLR team aimed to empower students with simple, practical strategies to prevent back pain, improve posture and protect their long-term spinal health.
The programme reinforced an important message: better posture, regular movement, appropriate ergonomics and an active lifestyle can play a significant role in preventing recurrent back pain and maintaining a healthy spine.
